We upgraded from Killerspin Jet Set 2-pack Table Tennis Racket Set to these DHS 6-star series and it suddenly feels like a different game. It is not that the Killerspin rackets are bad. They have reasonably sticky rubber that results in some spin. But compared to the DHS, they are just too forgiving. Incoming spins are nullified to a large extent; speed is easily dampened as well. The drawback is of course that you won't be able to generate the kind of spin and speed necessary at the club level. This DHS, on the other hand, is every bit a serious player's racket. In the skillful hand of an experienced player, it will produce sharp trajectories impossible for beginner equipment. Casual players may find it a little hard to control, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars reasonable for the price, lack of speed on smooth side, August 21, 2011

I have used this paddle for a couple of months. I'll talk about the three parts of the paddle in the following. Note that the numbers are all estimate because I don't have accurate measure equipment.

1. the racket: the racket isn't a high quality, but it is reasonable with such price. It only has three layers, one thick layer in the middle, and two thin layers each side, which look smooth, so it is good. It has a flare handle, but it more like a straight one, i.e. the middle part and the end does not change much, which is actually what I liked because it makes twiddling easier.

2. the pimple-out side: the cloudyfog long pimple rubber has a thin sponge (0.8 or 1 mm). I used C7 before, and comparing C7, it performs better in defense, i.e. it absorbs a little more power and therefore less likely returns the ball too far, and also it generates a little more spiny when returning a loop. You still can hit with it, but it is just a little harder then with C7... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice paddle, March 8, 2011

This racket has greatly improved my game. The rubber is very sticky and can pick the ball off the table for a few seconds. The pips out side kills the oponents spin very effectively and also throws some elusive spins itself. I loop a lot and this thing is perfect for that. If you combine that with a defensive back hand for the pips out side you can't beat it. One guy beat me probably 40 out 42 games before I purchased this paddle. I have beaten him 18 out of 20 with this paddle. The two times that I lost were because I started playing around so it was not the paddles fault at all. One thing that almost turned me off with this paddle is the control rating of 4. I don't think this is accurate from using other paddles with control ratings of 7.5. I can control the ball very well with this paddle and I am not a professional player by any means. If you need a paddle to nullify spin on opponents serves, that can also produce a lot of speed and spin for your own serve then this is the paddle... Read more
